Dyslexia Intervention & Multisensory Learning Support in Amsterdam
Lumos Learning Center provides dyslexia intervention, Orton-Gillingham tutoring, multisensory math instruction, and academic coaching in English for children and teens in Amsterdam.
Mission.
Lumos Learning Center exists to provide high-quality reading and math interventions for students who struggle to learn in traditional settings. We provide structured, systematic, multisensory learning support in reading and in math. We meet students where they are and provide them the support they need to grow and thrive.
Our Services
Dyslexia Therapy
As an Orton-Gillingham certified academic language therapist (CALT), our research-backed program consistently yields dramatic literacy outcomes for students, whether they noticeably struggle with reading or have a formal dyslexia diagnosis.
For students who struggle to remember spelling and reading rules and have trouble reading fluently.
Comprehension & Written Expression
As a prior English teacher, I know what skills students require to be successful in school, and I tailor this program around what they need. These sessions help them learn to focus while they read, equip them to take notes efficiently, and train them to accurately summarize.
For students who can read words fluently but struggle to track ideas and compose their thoughts successfully.
Multisensory Math
Trained in multisensory mathematics, I develop a trajectory specific to your child to meet their needs in math. Multisensory math uses the theory behind Orton-Gillingham teaching and applies it to mathematics with a hands-on approach.
For students who are in need of a new approach to math and have struggled to keep up with their classes.
Academic Coaching
Academic coaching can include homework management and study skills, studying together, and reteaching school concepts.
For students who need tutoring in school classes. This varies depending on the individual student and where they need assistance.
Dyslexia Testing
I provide testing using the Test of Dyslexia. It is a comprehensive test that takes several hours to administer and consult over.
After completing this, you will receive 23 sub-scores for your child as well as a graph showing their placement on the Dyslexia Diagnostic Index.
